Nokia have unveiled two new phablets at a press event that took place earlier today in Dubai. It wasn't much of a secret that the Finnish company were going to unveil the Lumia 1520, but they caught us by surprise by announcing a more affordable version called the Lumia 1320.
The two new phablets will be the first Nokia devices to launch since the company was bought by Microsoft in September. The Lumia 1520 has added importance because it's the first Windows Phone to have a 1080p display, and the first to have a quad-core processor.
Read on to find out everything you need to know about Nokia's Lumia 1520.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 is the most powerful Windows smartphone of all time and the first to feature a full HD display. Both feats are only possible because the phablet comes pre-loaded with the latest version of Windows Phone 8.
Nokia's Lumia 1520 is headed-up by a 6 inch 1080p ClearBlack display (1920*1080 pixels) - giving it a pixels-per-inch rating of 367. That makes it the highest resolution Windows Phone device in the world, but Nokia arn't finished yet because its also the first to have a quad-core processor.
The power-packed Lumia 1520 is driven by a Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.3 GHz, which is backed up by 2GB of RAM. Onboard memory comes in at 32GB and can be expanded by another 64GB using microSD cards, while you also get 7GB of Skydrive cloud-based storage.
Nokia's Lumia 1020 raised the bar when it comes to mobile cameras thanks to its 41 mega-pixel Pureview snapper. Sadly, the Lumia 1520 doesn't include Nokia's flagship camera module. Although, it does still have a superb 20 mega-pixel Pureview camera with Optical-Image-Stabilisation and a front-facing 1.2 mega-pixel camera.
As you probably spotted from the picture posted above, the phablet also supports Wireless charging (Qi compatible) which powers-up the integrated 3400mAH battery. When it comes to connectivity the Lumia 1520 supports 4G, 3G, WiFi and NFC - everything we've come to expect from a modern mobile.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 will be available to buy before the end of 2013 and comes in a choice of either Black, White, Red and Yellow. The SIM-free cost of the Nokia Lumia 1520 was announced as $749 (or £464) - but it's possible we might have to pay a little more in the UK.
