Nokia have begun inviting users to test the new 'Lumia Black' firmware update on their smartphones ahead of its release early next year.
The lucky users invited to test the update submitted ‘Feedback to Nokia’ using the application found in the 'Settings' screen on Lumia smartphones. So far owners of both the Lumia 520 and Lumia 521 have been invited to take part in the early testing of the update.
The Lumia Black update, which will be available on all of Nokia's Lumia smartphones, also enables Windows Phone Update 3 (GDR3) to be installed on older Lumia smartphones.
Windows Phone Update 3 made it's debut on the Nokia Lumia 1520 and 1320 adding support for quad-core processors and 1080p displays. But it'll also give older Lumia smartphones a whole new lease of life including: Driving Mode, Better Bluetooth, Improved Tethering and much more.
The Lumia Black firmware itself will also bring improvements to Nokia's range of smartphones. An official change log is yet to be released, but a number of new features have already been confirmed including:
