Sony's Xperia Z2 Tablet is the world's thinnest and lightest tablet

Sony have had a very busy first day at MWC 2014 unveiling their flagship Xperia Z2 smartphone, the 4G-ready Xperia M2 and now they've revealed the Xperia Z2 Tablet.

Sony's 10.1 inch Xperia Z2 Tablet is the world's thinnest and lightest tablet, at just 6.4mm and either 426g (Wi-Fi model) or 439g (LTE/3G model). You'll also be pleased to hear its both waterproof and dustproof thanks to Sony's Omnibalance design.

A lot of the tablets core specification and features are brought over from the Xperia Z2 smartphone. That includes the same 2.3Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and it comes pre-loaded with Android KitKat.

The 10.1 inch TRILUMINOS display (1920*1200 pixels) also adopts Sony's new "Live Colour LED" technology. That means you get brighter colours that remain natural and unsaturated with best-in-class colour reproduction and contrast.

Sony's new tablet has an 8 mega-pixel rear-facing camera and a front-facing 2.2 mega-pixel snapper for video calling or taking selfies.

While, it delivers excellent sound thanks to "Sony’s Front Surround audio technology" and "Digital Noise Cancelling" which blocks up to 98 per cent of ambient sound when paired with a noise cancelling headset.

“The Xperia Z2 Tablet represents the pinnacle of tablet innovation and is a true flagship in our premium line. We have evolved our cutting-edge design to create the slimmest lightweight tablet matched with Sony’s latest technologies to deliver a unique user experience.” said Kunimasa Suzuki, President and CEO, Sony Mobile Communications.

The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet will available to buy in March in either Black or White colours - in either a choice of either WiFi-only or LTE models. The price currently remains a mystery.
