Sony launched the Sony Xperia XZ2 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week. It focuses on an enhanced entertainment experience, improved battery life, faster processing and an improved design.
Three will offer the phone on pre-order from March 16th. On top of standard features, those who get the device through Three will also receive free roaming in 71 countries, as well as the ability to stream entertainment without using their data. They’ll also get 4G thrown in and access to rewards etc. through Three’s Wuntu app. Three will offer the phone in silver and blue.
The Xperia XZ2’s updated design features a 3D glass surface, aiming to make the phone easy to hold in your hand, and intuitive positioning of the fingerprint sensor and camera. The colours and finish are “inspired by light”.
The phone boasts a new advanced Motion Eye camera which shoots images and film in 4K HDR, which Sony claims is a world-first in a mobile. It also offers the option to film in slow motion.
Using Sony’s BRAVIA TV technology, the device converts video to HDR, so even streamed content looks sharper and brighter. And it’s not just the visuals – the Dynamic Vibration feature, based on audio and data analysis, means you can feel the action too. The front-facing speakers with S-Force Front Surround are Sony’s loudest yet.
Running out of battery is a bugbear for many smartphone users on the move. Sony claims that the Xperia XZ2 can last all day thanks to a 3180mAh battery and the Smart Stamina system. Smart Stamina predicts battery levels based on average use, provides alerts about when the battery could die and proactively manages energy use.
