Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Halted

When a manufacturer rolls out an Android update for one of its smartphones you expect it be tried and tested. However, something seems to have gone badly wrong with the recently released Android Jelly Bean (4.3) update for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Samsung have been forced to pull the Android 4.3 update after a significant number of owners of the Galaxy S3 reported problems after installing the update. Reported issues include rapid battery drain, random freezes, stuttering music playback, Wi-Fi issues, poor multi-tasking and problems with Bluetooth audio.

In an official statement Samsung stated that 'As we are currently investigating the reported issues with Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean update, the upgrading service has been temporarily suspended. We are committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience, and will ensure to resume the upgrading service at the earliest possibility.'

No details on when the roll-out will recommence, but based on the number and severity of the issues reported, it could be sometime before it becomes available again. As soon as 3G get more news on the availability of Android 4.3 on the Galaxy S3 in the UK we'll let you know.

Could it that Samsung rushed out the update to bring support to the much-criticised Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch? Or are the issues caused by Samsung's decision to skip the Android 4.2 update completely on the Galaxy S3 and go straight to Android 4.3?
