Overview

The Google Pixel 9 Pro is Google’s first compact Pro handset – this has the same 6.3-inch screen size as the standard Pixel 9, but all the Pro-level specs of the Pixel 9 Pro XL.

So what Pro-level specs are we talking about? Well for one thing, its screen is a lot higher resolution than the base model, at 1280 x 2856. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate and a high peak brightness of 3,000 nits.

Elsewhere, the Google Pixel 9 Pro has impressive camera hardware, with a 50MP main sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide camera (with a 123-degree field of view), and a 48MP telephoto camera, offering 5x optical zoom. There’s even a high-spec 42MP camera on the front, and all these sensors excel.

The Pixel 9 Pro also has a large 4,700mAh battery (promising upwards of 24 hours of life), and of course, it’s a power-packed phone too, with a bespoke Tensor G4 chipset and an enormous 16GB of RAM.

Both of those specs are designed with AI in mind, because the Pixel 9 Pro is absolutely packed full of AI features. Many of these relate to taking and editing photos, allowing you to unblur out of focus shots, zoom further, remove things from images, move and add subjects to shots, and a whole lot more.

But there are other tools too, with Google Gemini built in so you have a smart digital assistant to help you with all your needs.

All that, and the Pixel 9 Pro also has a new design, replacing the playful look of the Pixel 8 Pro with a smarter, more grown up, and arguably more premium appearance.

It’s water resistant too, and has an in-screen fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, and the promise of seven years of software updates – so the Pixel 9 Pro will stay up to date and even get smarter as time goes on and more features are added.
