Samsung Galaxy S6 - Concept video, pics & more

Our take on Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is set to arrive early next year, possibly as soon as January and it could be one of Samsung’s most exciting launches yet, with a metal build likely and possibly even a completely new design, given that it’s apparently codenamed ‘Project Zero’.

To make the wait that little bit more bearable we’ve cooked up a Galaxy S6 concept of our very own, complete with a 1080p teaser video and high quality images. But while it’s a concept design it’s based on actual specs rumours, so there’s a chance that the real Galaxy S6 could turn out a lot like this.

Samsung Galaxy S6 - Premium Unibody Design

Samsung’s clearly inching towards a premium flagship, as evidenced by the metal frame on the recent Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Alpha, but we expect the Galaxy S6 will be its first handset with a truly high end build.

As such our concept is all metal and glass. Plastic is a distant memory here, but despite the higher end materials the weight and thickness have been kept down to a trim 140g and 6.7mm respectively.

A unibody design keeps the battery sealed in, but ensures there are no distracting seams and the microSD card slot has been retained with an innovative push to eject mechanism.

And as well as having a sumptuous look, our concept recognises the importance of personalisation and individualism, which is why our version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 comes in a choice of four stylish colours. The gold, silver, black and white options on offer all give it a unique flair, but are also all understated and classy.

Samsung Galaxy S6 - Flagship in everyway

Now we've got the looks out of the way we better move onto the features that will make the Samsung Galaxy S6 standout from the crowd.

The Galaxy S6 looks a dead cert to adopt a super-sharp QHD display (2560x1440 pixels), just like the Galaxy Note 4. We've gone for a display size of 5.2 inches which we feel is the sweet spot right now and that would give the smartphone a staggering 564 ppi.

Qualcomm's new 64-bit Snapdragon 810 Octa-core processor also looks nailed on for inclusion. The new super-speed chip is backed up by an Adreno 430GPU delivering cutting-edge gaming performance and could make the smartphone compatible with the Gear VR headset.

The inclusion of a 64-bit processor would all-but-guarantee it'll run on Android Lollipop (5.0). The latest version of Android adds support for 64-bit architecture meaning better multi-tasking, faster app loading, a leap in overall performance and a host of new features.

4K TV's are yet to adopted by the mainstream crowd, but when they do the Galaxy S6 should in a great place to take advantage because it's set to come with a 20MP camera with 4K video recording support. Audio playback will also be crystal clear thanks to the smartphones' stereo speakers.

The fingerprint sensor will again be built into the home-screen button and a heart-rate sensor on the reverse. You'll also get support for NFC, Bluetooth, WiFi and the latest LTE standards (including CAT 6 LTE) for buffer-free HD streaming.
