About Alcatel

Alcatel has been making phones since 1998, and in more recent years it’s built tablets too. So despite not being one of the biggest brands, it has a ton of experience.

Alcatel excels at offering low-cost devices, so if you’re shopping on a budget then Alcatel’s tablets are well worth exploring, as they offer capable specs at a low price.

Why choose Three for your Alcatel tablet?

Three is the perfect partner for a low-cost tablet maker like Alcatel, because Three’s plans also tend to be excellent value.

That said, this is a big-name network with all the perks and features that you’d expect of that, including unlimited data plans, 5G offered as standard, tethering support, and access to the Three+ app. This houses a wide selection of exclusive offers and discounts from other brands, so you can save even more money once you start using this.

Which Alcatel tablets support 5G?

None of Alcatel’s current tablets support 5G at the time of writing, as this is a budget brand which is focused on offering affordable devices rather than premium features like 5G connectivity.

Which Alcatel tablet should I choose?

If you’re shopping on Three then there’s only one Alcatel tablet available at the time of writing, so that makes this an easy choice. The tablet in question is the Alcatel 3T8, and it’s one of very few Alcatel tablets that has any sort of cellular connectivity, so it’s one of the best and only choices if you want to be able to use mobile data.

Like all Alcatel tablets, it’s also very affordable, so you won’t have to spend much to get online with a big screen.

Top Alcatel tablet

Again, there’s only one Alcatel tablet on Three – the Alcatel 3T8, but even considering those that aren’t on Three, this is one of the best, along with the larger Alcatel 3T10.

We’d give the 3T8 the edge though, as the 3T10 isn’t any higher resolution despite the larger display, meaning the picture is less sharp.

With the Alcatel 3T8 you get an 8-inch 800 x 1280 screen, a 5MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing one, a 4,080mAh battery, and a microSD card slot.

Most affordable Alcatel tablet

As one of the only Alcatel tablets with mobile connectivity, the Alcatel 3T8 isn’t just the cheapest Alcatel option on Three, but one of the cheapest on any mobile network.

It supports 4G, so you can get fairly fast data, and with 32GB of storage plus a microSD card slot there’s plenty of room for all your downloads.

That low price also makes it a solid option for children, since it won’t be the end of the world if they break it, and a dedicated Kids Mode makes it a safe choice for them to use too.

Top value Alcatel tablet

The Alcatel 3T8 is also the top value Alcatel tablet – and not just because it’s the only one on Three. As noted, not many alternatives support mobile data, making them less desirable, and with its incredibly low price the Alcatel 3T8 is unquestionably a good value purchase.

Latest Alcatel tablets

The Alcatel 3T8 and Alcatel 3T10 are among the latest Alcatel tablets, having both landed in 2020. That might sound like a while ago, but the company doesn’t bring out tablets often. Note that there are also older versions of both of those tablets, with slightly worse specs, but it’s the 2020 model of the 3T8 that Three sells.

Alcatel in summary

Alcatel isn’t aiming to compete with Samsung or Apple, instead it’s happily carving out its niche as a purveyor of quality entry-level tablets.

These devices don’t offer cutting-edge specs, but they’re designed to deliver smooth performance and all the basic features you need from a tablet, at a very low price. So if you’re shopping on a budget or want a second tablet or one that you perhaps don’t need to worry about too much, then an Alcatel-branded one could be a top choice.
