Overview

The Honor Magic 5 Pro is one of the very best Android phones of 2023, with every aspect – from its screen to its cameras, battery life, power, and beyond – excelling.

Let’s start with that screen – the Honor Magic 5 Pro has a 6.81-inch 1312 x 2848 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR10+. It can also get extremely bright, so it’s easy to see even in dazzling sunlight, and there are hardly any bezels – the display instead encompasses the whole front of the phone.

Then there’s its cameras. The Honor Magic 5 Pro has a triple-lens rear camera, with a 50MP f/1.6 main camera, a 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide one, and a 50MP f/3.0 periscope one, with 3.5x optical zoom. Even at the high end, most phones use lower megapixel counts for all but their main lens, so getting 50 megapixels on all three here is a big win.

The cameras all perform extremely well, with the main snapper in particular standing out, because it has a larger sensor than rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The battery meanwhile is a 5,100mAh one, which is larger than the battery in just about all significant rival phones. Life then is as impressive as you’d expect, and you can charge the Honor Magic 5 Pro up quickly too, with 66W wired and 50W wireless powering.

This phone is also exceptionally powerful, as it has not just a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset (which is the top chipset currently available to Android phones), but also a hefty 12GB of RAM.

There’s masses of storage too, with 512GB built in, and the Honor Magic 5 Pro looks good as well, with a premium design and water resistance.
