The Motorola Edge 40 is a mid-range phone with some features that even most high-end handsets don’t offer, the highlight of which is its 144Hz screen.

That’s an incredibly high refresh rate, topping even the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, both of which top out at 120Hz. This makes scrolling on the phone buttery smooth, and can also benefit games.

It’s a 6.55-inch 1080 x 2400 OLED screen with HDR10+ support too, so its specs aren’t lacking in other areas either.

Another unusual highlight is the design, which optionally features a vegan leather back, offering a soft, grippy, tactile feel, and helping the Motorola Edge 40 stand out from the crowd.

Other impressive aspects include the charging, as you can juice up its 4,400mAh battery with 68W of power, meaning that you can get a day’s worth of power with just 10 minutes of charging.

There’s wireless charging too, and the Motorola Edge 40 is IP68 rated, meaning it has substantial water and dust resistance.

On the camera front, you’re getting a 50MP main snapper and a 13MP ultra-wide one, along with a high-spec 32MP selfie camera. The primary snapper also has the widest aperture available on a smartphone, which helps it take exceptional low light shots.

Plus, the Motorola Edge 40 has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos audio, so between that and the smooth screen this is a media powerhouse.

It’s also a snappy performer thanks to its Dimensity 8020 chipset and 8GB of RAM, and the software is slick and intuitive, but with useful extra features like Ready For, which allows you to connect the Motorola Edge 40 to an external monitor and use it like a desktop PC, making this one of the best phones for productivity too.
