The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is Samsung’s most refined and best foldable phone yet as of 2023. It’s slimmer and lighter than the already impressive Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, which makes it much more manageable to carry around and slip into a pocket.

It also has a far superior hinge – one that allows the two halves to fold flat against each other, where before there was a gap between them.

This makes it look and feel like an all-round more polished and premium product, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 performs better too, as it has a cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset. This is the best chipset available to Android phones at the time of writing, and it’s exclusively available to Samsung.

There’s also 12GB of RAM here, which combined with that chipset makes this one of the very fastest phones you can get your hands on.

This phone is built for making the most of all that power too, because its 7.6-inch foldable screen is big enough to comfortably run two apps side by side. It’s an 1812 x 2176 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, so this is a premium screen fit for a premium phone.

And it’s not the only screen you get here, as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 also has a 6.2-inch cover display, giving you a full sized smartphone experience without ever opening out the tablet-sized main display. This 6.2-inch screen also uses AMOLED and has a 120Hz refresh rate, so it doesn’t disappoint.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 also has a whopping five cameras, with three on the back and one on each display – including a futuristic under-display camera. As well as standard wide-angle lenses there’s also an ultra-wide and a telephoto (offering 3x optical zoom), so this is an accomplished camera setup.

Plus there’s plenty of storage, support for Samsung’s S Pen stylus, and the promise of four years of major Android updates and five years of security updates, which is more than you’ll get with almost any non-Samsung Android phone.
