The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is by far Samsung’s most impressive foldable phone yet, and it’s a huge upgrade on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.

It’s remarkably slim, coming in at just 4.2mm thick when unfolded and 8.9mm thick when folded – the latter of which is still almost as slim as many non-foldable phones. And it’s even lighter than some normal phones, at just 215g. That makes this one of the most portable, practical book-style foldables yet.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also extremely powerful, with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and up to 16GB of RAM.

Its cameras have had a real boost too, as it has a new 200MP main sensor, along with a 12MP ultra-wide (with a 120-degree field of view) and a 10MP telephoto (offering 3x optical zoom). The main sensor can capture far more detail and light than its predecessor’s camera, and there’s also a new 10MP front-facing camera – that means both screens now have 10MP selfie cameras, where before one of them was just 4MP.

The screens are bigger than before too, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 having an 8-inch 1968 x 2184 foldable display, with a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, and a 6.5-inch 1080 x 2520 cover screen. These are both AMOLED screens and both have a 120Hz refresh rate.

Those big screens mean the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 feels more like a full-size handset when folded, and more like a tablet when unfolded – yet still manage to be slimmer and lighter than its predecessor.

On top of all that you’ve also got a 4,400mAh battery (delivering up to 24 hours of life when playing videos), there’s an IP48 rating offering serious water resistance, there are all sorts of AI tools built in, and Samsung also promises up to seven years of Android updates – so this will keep getting new and improved software for a long time.
