The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the successor to the Google Pixel Fold, but it’s a much more polished phone than its predecessor, with much bigger screens.

It has an 8.0-inch 2076 x 2152 foldable main display with 373 pixels per inch, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a high peak brightness of 2,700 nits. But when you don’t need a tablet sized display there’s also a 6.3-inch 1080 x 2424 screen with 422 pixels per inch, which also has a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,700 nits.

That second display is as big as the screen on the Pixel 9 Pro, so this truly is a tablet and a smartphone all in one.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold also has a slimmer build than its predecessor, coming in at just 5.1mm thick when unfolded and 10.5mm thick when folded. And it’s lighter too, at 257g. Being bigger, thinner, and lighter is an impressive combination, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold also looks much better, with far smaller bezels around the foldable screen.

It’s power-packed too, with a brand-new Tensor G4 chipset and a mammoth 16GB of RAM, plus plenty of storage.

It’s also water resistant, and has five cameras, including a 48MP main sensor, a 10.8MP telephoto camera (with 5x optical zoom), a 10.5MP ultra-wide (with a 127-degree field of view), and a pair of 10MP selfie cameras – one for each screen.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s battery is a decent size as well, coming in at 4,650mAh and promising upwards of 24 hours of life – or up to 72 hours with Extreme Battery Saver mode, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will get seven years of software updates, which is far more than most phones will get.

Speaking of the software, this handset is absolutely full of AI tools and features, including Google Gemini, and various photo editing tools. So if you want the best smartphone AI, then this – or another phone in the Pixel 9 line – is what you should buy.
