The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is Samsung’s clamshell foldable flagship for 2026, taking everything great about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and improving on it.
That includes installing an upgraded Exynos 2600 chipset, which delivers substantially more power – especially when paired with its 12GB of RAM – and making the phone slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, with a thickness of 13.1mm when folded, 6.1mm when unfolded, and a weight of 180g. That makes it the thinnest and lightest Galaxy Z Flip model yet.
This pocket-sized powerhouse has a 6.9-inch 1080 x 2520 foldable AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, so in other words it’s as big as the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra’s screen, and similar quality.
But unlike the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra you can of course fold this shut, leaving you with a far more compact device and a 4.1-inch 948 x 1048 AMOLED cover display – which also has a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 also has a dual-lens camera, consisting of both a 50MP wide snapper (also capable of 2x optical-quality zoom) and a 12MP ultra-wide, and there’s a 10MP front-facing camera that you can use alongside the main display. That said, you can also use the main cameras for selfies and frame them using the cover display.
For battery you’re getting a 4,300mAh one, which Samsung says can last for up to 31 hours of video playback, making this an extremely long-lasting phone. And with loads of built-in storage you’re unlikely to run low.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is also water resistant, with its IP48 rating meaning it can be submerged up to 1.5 metres deep for up to 30 minutes, and it’s running the latest version of Android at the time of writing – that being Android 17. It’s also promised seven major Android version upgrades, so it will keep being updated to the latest versions for a long time.
