The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Samsung’s flagship foldable phone for 2026, with numerous upgrades over last year’s Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
That includes a far higher capacity 5,000mAh battery, which delivers up to 27 hours of life when watching video. That’s three more hours than the 4,400mAh Galaxy Z Fold 7, and it charges far faster too, with 45W charging, up from its 25W predecessor.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is also even slimmer than the Z Fold 7 — in fact it’s Samsung’s slimmest foldable phone yet, coming in at just 4.1mm thick when unfolded.
It also has more power, thanks to a top-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, paired with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and it will be supported for longer, as it ships with Android 17 and is promised seven major Android updates.
Plus, it has an upgraded ultra-wide camera that’s now 50MP rather than 12MP. That’s joined by a high-spec 200MP wide snapper, a 10MP telephoto offering 3x optical zoom, and a pair of 10MP selfie cameras.
The screen has been improved too, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra’s 8.0-inch foldable AMOLED display now being higher resolution at 2256 x 2504, for a crisper 422 pixels per inch, and being brighter too, topping out at 3,000 nits. Coupled with a 120Hz refresh rate this is an exceptional display, and it’s big enough to use like a tablet.
There’s also a 6.5-inch 1080 x 2520 AMOLED screen on the front, which also has a 120Hz refresh rate and lets you interact with this foldable more like a normal phone when you don’t need its spacious 8.0-inch display.
Plus, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has an IP48 rating, meaning it’s water resistant to depths of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes, and it’s packed full of AI tools.
