Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus up for pre-order with free bonuses

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is arguably the most exciting phone so far this year, and it’s even more exciting if you pre-order it, as doing so on Three can net you a year of free Netflix and get the phone in your hands a week early.

It’s available to pre-order now from £45 per month plus £99 upfront. You’ll need to opt for a plan with 12GB of data or more to get the Netflix subscription, but all current pre-orders should get the phone on March 9th – a week before the March 16th release date.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus itself, there’s a lot to cover, but let’s start with its massive 6.2-inch curved Super AMOLED screen. That screen technology means it’s vibrant and sports great contrast, while its 1440 x 2960 pixel density ensures it comes in at a crisp 529 pixels per inch. And as well as great pictures you’ll also get great sound, thanks to stereo speakers tuned by AKG.

Moving on to the camera, there’s a dual-lens 12MP one on the back, with one lens being fixed at f/2.4 while the other can switch between f/2.4 and f/1.5 depending on the light, with the latter being a superb choice for low light and not matched by any other smartphone camera – aside from the standard Galaxy S9, which has the same aperture switching skills but just one lens.

The Galaxy S9 Plus also lets you record slow motion video at 960fps, for slow and smooth footage, and with the 8MP front-facing camera you can create ‘AR emoji’ that look like you and match your facial expressions.

Meanwhile Samsung’s Bixby assistant is back with new features, such as the ability to automatically translate text just by pointing the camera at it.

Power-packed

The S9 Plus also has an enormous amount of power, with 6GB of RAM (that’s 2GB more than the standard S9) and a top-end octa-core Exynos 9810 processor, clocked at up to 2.8GHz.

The design is top-flight too, with a glass back, a metal frame, hardly any bezel and dust and water resistance.

You also get a big battery with the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, specifically a 3,500mAh one, so it should last a long time and it supports both fast and wireless charging.

You get a hefty 128GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot, and the fingerprint scanner is joined by an iris scanner and facial recognition. In all, this is a big, feature-packed flagship that even has the standard Galaxy S9 beat.

And if you get it on Three you can take advantage of extras, like free roaming beyond the EU and unlimited streaming from Netflix, Apple Music and more without it coming out of your data allowance.
