Samsung Galaxy S9 available for pre-order with free Netflix

The Samsung Galaxy S9 has just been announced and you can already pre-order it on Three, where it’s on contracts starting at just £40 per month, with £99 upfront. But if you opt for an Advanced Plan with at least 12GB of data you’ll get 12 months of Netflix thrown in for free, and that’s available to both new and existing Netflix customers.

The  Galaxy S9 is a great partner for Netflix too, as it has a big 5.8-inch curved Super AMOLED display that’s bright, vibrant and incredibly crisp at 1440 x 2960 and 570 pixels per inch.

Images should pop off its super widescreen 18.5:9 Infinity Display and with its stereo speakers tuned by AKG you’ll get great sound as well.

Other highlights of the Samsung Galaxy S9 include its incredibly powerful Exynos 9810 octa-core chipset and 4GB of RAM, which should make this one of the speediest phones on the planet. It’s also got good looks, with a metal frame and glass back, plus water and dust resistance.

Clever cameras and more

The camera is another highlight, as there’s a 12MP snapper on the back that can automatically switch between an aperture of f/2.4 when scenes are bright, to f/1.5 when they’re darker. This is the first smartphone to ever offer an f/1.5 aperture and it should deliver very strong low light performance.

The camera can also record slow motion footage at a whopping 960fps, and there’s an 8MP camera on the front that powers new ‘AR emoji’. This allows you to create an animated emoji that looks like you and can mimic your expressions.

There are also improvements to Samsung’s Bixby assistant, letting it do things like provide live translations of text, just by pointing the camera at it, and the fingerprint scanner has been moved to a better position below the camera lens.

Other features of the Galaxy S9 include a 3,000mAh battery with fast and wireless charging, Android Oreo, 64GB of storage, a microSD card slot and an iris scanner.

There aren’t really any missing features here, so this could be the phone to own in 2018, and if you pre-order now you should get it on March 9th, which is 7 days before the official release date.

Three is an ideal match for the phone too, especially if you grab the free Netflix subscription, as you’ll also have access to Go Binge, which lets you stream from Netflix and many other sources without it coming out of your data allowance.
