The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is Samsung’s latest and best clamshell foldable phone as of 2023, taking all the great things about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, but improving the cover screen and the hinge, and making it even more powerful.
The most exciting upgrade here is the 3.4-inch cover display, which is much bigger than on previous models, so you can do all sorts of things with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 without ever opening it up.
That bigger cover screen also makes it look great – as does the new hinge, which allows the two halves of the phone to lie completely flat against each other when folded, for a sleek, stylish appearance.
The 6.7-inch foldable display is the main event here though. That’s as big as the screen on an iPhone 14 Pro Max, but since you can fold it in half it’s easy to slip into small pockets. It’s a Full HD+ AMOLED screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and an extremely high 1,750-nit peak brightness. So content looks great and is easy to view even in bright sunlight.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is exceptionally powerful too, thanks to a top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset, which is the same as what you’ll find in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
This ‘for Galaxy’ version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is overclocked too, so it’s faster than the version available to non-Samsung phones.
There’s 8GB of RAM as well, along with up to 512GB of storage, and with a dual-lens camera the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is equipped to capture any moment.
The Z Flip 5 is also water-resistant, so you can safely get it wet, and it comes with the promise of four years of Android updates and five years of security patches, which is more than most phones offer. So this will be supported for a long, long time.
