Overview

iPhone 8 group

The iPhone 8 is the latest numbered phone from Apple and it’s a big upgrade on the iPhone 7 before it. In fact, other than the iPhone X this is the biggest change Apple has made to its flagship line in years.

The iPhone 8 has a new glass back, which allows for wireless charging for the first time on an iPhone, but it also looks great, with a shiny finish and a slim metal frame.

It’s toughened glass too, so it can survive a scrape, and the iPhone 8 is also IP67 certified water resistant, so it can easily survive the rain or even a fall into a pool.

Other highlights of the iPhone 8 include an incredibly powerful six-core A11 Bionic chipset, designed to drive stunning augmented reality experiences. It’s far faster and far more power efficient than the chipset in the iPhone 7.

Speaking of efficiency, the battery should easily keep you going all day, as it can last for up to 13 hours of video on a single charge.

The iPhone 8 also has a 4.7-inch screen, ideal for fans of compact phones, it’s sharp at 750 x 1334 and 326 pixels per inch, and for the first time on an iPhone it uses True Tone, meaning it can cleverly adjust the white balance to suit your environment, for optimal viewing conditions.

The iPhone 8 retains Apple’s iconic home button, complete with its Touch ID fingerprint scanner, and it has a very promising camera. It’s a 12MP one with an f/1.8 aperture, meaning it can take in a lot of light, for strong low-light performance, further helped by a quad-LED flash.

It also sports optical image stabilisation to keep shots in focus, and can shoot 4K video at up to 60fps. Plus, there’s a quality 7MP camera on the front, 25% louder speakers than the iPhone 7 for improved audio, and the iPhone 8 runs iOS 11 – so you have access to the latest, most polished version of Apple’s smartphone OS.

All in all the iPhone 8 is the perfect phone for anyone who wants a compact handset without sacrificing power and features.
