LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet With Full HD Display and High-End Specs Unveiled

LG's G Pad 8.3 is only 8.33mm thick and it's the first 8 inch tablet to have a full HD display.

It's a big week in the world of mobile with IFA 2013 due to begin at the end of this week. At the event, which takes place in Berlin, a whole host of new mobile devices will be showcased including the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 , Sony Xperia Z1 and the HTC One Max.

LG have jumped the gun by unveiling the LG G Pad 8.3 , which is an Android tablet with an 8 inch display and a high-end specification. The Korean company will be hoping their latest tablet creation fairs better than their previous model (LG Optimus Pad) - which suffered from underwhelming sales.

The LG G Pad 8.3 derives from it's name from it's 8.3 WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array) display. That gives it a pixels-per-inch rating of 273 , which is significantly better than Apple's iPad Mini or Samsung's Galaxy Note 8. Infact, it's the first 8 inch tablet to come with a full HD display !

LG's tablet is just 8.3mm thick and weighs just 338g , which makes it slightly heavier than Apple's iPad Mini - but it does have a much higher specification and a larger battery. It's powered by a 1.7 Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor , 2GB of RAM and has a 4600 mAh battery.

It comes pre-loaded with Android Jelly Bean (4.2.2) and has a  5 mega-pixel camera and a 1.3 mega-pixel front-facing snapper. It'll be available in a choice of White or Black models , which both come with 16GB of on-board memory.

The LG G Pad 8.3 could go on sale as early as September 10th and is expected to be priced around £300. It'll be entering a competitive market where it'll need to compete with the iPad Mini, Nexus 7 and Galaxy Note 8 - all great tablets.

We'll bring you more news about the LG G Pad 8.3 at the end of the week when it'll be showcased at IFA 2013.
