We brought you news earlier today of the Samsung ATIV S, which is the first Windows Phone 8 smartphone and now Samsung have unveiled the Samsung ATIV Tab.
The Samsung ATIV Tab is a Windows 8 tablet which runs on Windows RT, which is essentially a version of Windows Phone 8 that has been optimised for tablets which runs Metro-based applications. The ATIV Tab will also come pre-loaded with a nice amount of software including Office !
Samsung's ATIV Tab has a 10.1 inch HD display (1366*768 pixels) and weights just 570 grammes and is just 8.99 mm thick. The tablet is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor which powers the device in combination with 2GB of RAM. This gives it more than enough grunt, although we can't help feeling slightly disappointed that it doesn't have a quad-core chip.
The ATIV Tab has two cameras with a both rear-facing 5 mega-pixel camera and a front-facing 1.9 mega-pixel camera both present. Meanwhile, on-board memory comes in a choice of either 32GB or 64GB, which can be expanded by another 64GB using microSD cards.
A whole host of connectivity options are present including a USB port which enables you to connect keyboards, mice and printers, Additionally, the tablet has a m-HDMI port for connecting to other displays with supported wireless connectivity including NFC, WiFi, A-GPS and Bluetooth.
Samsung didn't give any details on when the ATIV Tab would launch, but when 3G gets news we'll let you know. Whenever it launches we think the ATIV Tab offers a nice alternative to the Galaxy Note 10.1 and the iPad , especially for those who favour the Windows platform.
