EXCLUSIVE: We've got UK release dates for Sony's Xperia E1 and Xperia T2 Ultra
Sony unveiled the music-orientated Xperia E1 smartphone and the over-sized Xperia T2 Ultra phablet earlier this week. At the time we weren't sure whether the two devices were coming to the UK, but we can now exclusively confirm that both will be hitting our shores.
An anonymous source inside a UK retailer has confirmed to us that the Xperia E1 will land in the UK in March, while the Xperia T2 Ultra will touchdown in April. The precise launch dates for both devices is still yet to be determined, as are the prices for both.
However, Sony have already confirmed that the Xperia E1 will cost under 175 Euros - so we should expect a price of around £145 in the UK. While, the Japanese company also revealed that their Xperia T2 Ultra would be priced under 400 euros (or £339).
Our source has promised to give us more detailed information about the launch of the Xperia E1 and the Xperia T2 Ultra as soon as they are determined.
The major selling point of the Sony Xperia E1 is its 100dB speaker which offers “a louder, cleaner sound that can hold its own in any environment.”. It also comes with a dedicated Walkman button and just like Apple's iPod you can shake it to shuffle tracks.
While, the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra is a 6-inch phablet which is the "worlds most portable large screen smartphone". Essentially, it's a more affordable alternative to Sony's Xperia Z Ultra which cost a whopping £650 when it first landed in the UK. You do miss out on waterproofing and it's got a lower specifcation overall.
