Dual-SIM phones used to only commonly be found in other parts of the world, but now there are a number of them available in the UK, with ever more arriving, including many high-end and high-profile handsets.
Having a dual SIM card slot in your phone has a number of potential benefits. For example, you might have one work SIM and one personal one. Or one for use in the UK and one with better international rates for use abroad.
They won’t be useful to everyone, but if you carry two phones now or can think of situations where a different number or network would be helpful, then a dual-SIM phone is well worth considering. With that in mind we’ve created this guide to the best dual-SIM smartphones currently available in the UK.
Note: Some phones are sold in both dual and single-SIM versions, so before buying any double check that you’re getting the right model.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus is likely to be the most appealing Samsung flagship for most people – it has a more premium build than the standard Samsung Galaxy S21, along with a bigger screen and battery, but isn’t as expensive as the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Despite its lower price, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus still has top-end power from its Exynos 2100 chipset and 8GB of RAM, and it also supports 5G, has a great triple-lens camera setup, and – yes – supports multiple SIM cards.
However, it only has slot for one removable SIM card (a nano SIM), while the other one is an eSIM, which allows you to change network without changing SIM card.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus also has a 6.7-inch 1080 x 2400 AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, plus a 4,800mAh battery, water resistance, and a stylish design.
The iPhone 12 Pro probably doesn’t need any introduction, but if you were wondering whether it has dual-SIM support – it does. As with many other phones on this list though it offers a nano SIM slot and an eSIM – the latter of which isn’t removable.
Dual-SIM credentials aside, the iPhone 12 Pro is an excellent smartphone, packing an enormous amount of power, and one of the best camera setups you’ll find on a phone – particularly for users who just want to point and shoot.
The 6.1-inch 1170 x 2532 OLED screen is great too (though limited to a 60Hz refresh rate), the design is iconic, and you get 5G, Face ID, and access to Apple’s well-stocked App Store.
This isn’t quite the best iPhone – you’ll find that below – but it’s very close, and a little bit more affordable.

If you want two removable SIM cards rather than having an eSIM for one, then the OnePlus 9 Pro will suit you well, as that’s exactly what it supports.
It’s also the best phone OnePlus has ever made at the time of its launch, with a sharp 6.7-inch 1440 x 3216 AMOLED screen that has a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support.
The OnePlus 9 Pro is powerful too, with a Snapdragon 888 chipset and up to 12GB of RAM, and it has an impressive quad-lens camera made in conjunction with Hasselblad.
The battery is both big at 4,500mAh and very fast to charge, at 65W with wires or 50W without, and the OnePlus 9 Pro supports 5G, has a water-resistant build, and a slick interface that’s one of the best you’ll find on an Android phone.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max is the best iPhone you can buy, which also means it will be the best phone for most Apple fans. It’s expensive, but you sure get a lot for your money – including a nano SIM / eSIM combination for dual-SIM use.
Beyond that, the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch 1284 x 2778 OLED screen with HDR10 support, top-tier power from its A14 Bionic chipset, 5G, and a quad-lens camera that’s among the best you’ll find on any handset.
That camera includes a 12MP main, 12MP ultra-wide, 12MP telephoto (with 2.5x optical zoom), and a LiDAR scanner for judging depth, and it’s a setup that excels in most circumstances.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max has great battery life too, from its 3,687mAh battery, and it supports wireless charging and has a greater amount of water resistance than most phones, as it’s rated for depths of up to 6 metres for up to 30 minutes.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is arguably the best phone you can buy, so as it’s a dual-SIM device it’s also arguably the best dual-SIM one.
Like most recent, premium dual-SIM handsets, this one combines a removable nano SIM card slot with an eSIM, so you can change network without changing SIM card – though it’s worth noting that not all networks support eSIMs at the time of writing.
In any case, the Galaxy S21 Ultra stands out in a number of ways, from its quad-lens camera (including a 10x optical zoom lens) to its superb 6.8-inch 1440 x 3200 AMOLED screen with a 120Hz variable refresh rate and HDR10+ support.
There’s plenty of power too of course, thanks to its Exynos 2100 chipset and up to 16GB of RAM, plus a big 5,000mAh battery, wireless charging, water resistance, 5G, stylus support, and a stylish – albeit bulky – build.

So there you have it. While these five handsets aren’t the only dual-SIM phones they are arguably the best.
They’re all high-end but suited to different tastes. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus is a great all-round Android flagship that strikes a good balance between price and features. Then there’s the iPhone 12 Pro, which does a similar thing for iOS.
In third place it’s the OnePlus 9 Pro, with a slick interface, top specs, and a marginally lower price than some comparable phone.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max is in second – this is the best iPhone and very nearly the best phone. But our number one choice is the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. It’s enormously expensive, but truly has no compromises in its design, specs, or features.
