Overview

The Apple iPad 10.2 (2019) is perhaps the most exciting budget iPad that Apple has ever made, as it’s the closest yet to the flagship iPad Pro range.

That’s in part because it supports both the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil, so if you want to type, sketch or do other work and creative projects on your slate, this supports the tools you’ll need.

It also now has a bigger screen, rising from the 9.7 inches of its predecessor to 10.2 inches, so you’ve got a more spacious canvas to work on – or to watch movies, play games and enjoy apps, which the Apple iPad 10.2 (2019) also excels at.

Its 1620 x 2160 resolution means visuals are crisp, and there’s plenty of power here, thanks to Apple’s A10 Fusion chipset, which isn’t Apple’s latest but still gives the slate lots of oomph.

The design is good too. It has a metal shell and while the bezels aren’t tiny they are smaller than on the previous basic iPad. Those bezels also leave room for a home button complete with Touch ID, for speedy fingerprint access to your slate.

The iPad 10.2 (2019) also runs iPadOS 13, which is a brand-new operating system designed specifically for iPads, but if you’ve used iOS before you’ll be in familiar territory, and you get full access to the App Store.

Finally, the iPad 10.2 (2019) also comes with up to 128GB of storage – and this is the size we’d recommend if you want to store lots of content on it. But to save money you can always opt for the bargain-priced 32GB model.
