Overview

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is a beastly phone, packing an octa-core chipset and 6GB of RAM, a combination which sees it dwarf many other flagships when it comes to power.

The Mate 10 Pro also has a high-quality AMOLED panel, so it can deliver vibrant images just like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone X. And it supports HDR10, so movies really pop. It’s got a super widescreen 18:9 aspect ratio similar to those phones too, and its bezels are tiny, for an all-screen finish.

The overall design of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro impresses as well, thanks to a combination of a metal frame and a curvy glass back, with a dark strip running across it, which stands out and gives the phone a distinctive look.

The battery is massive at 4,000mAh, which means this is one of those rare phones that can last two days between charges, and the camera is a 20MP and 12MP dual-lens setup, with support for 2x lossless zoom.

Plus, both lenses have an f/1.6 aperture, which means the openings are larger than on the majority of other phones, making them strong low light performers.

Other highlights of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro include stereo speakers for superior sound, a massive 128GB of built-in storage, a fingerprint scanner and brand-new Android Oreo software.

The Mate 10 Pro can also be plugged into an external screen and used as a desktop, a bit like the Galaxy S8 – except that phone needs a pricey accessory to enable the feature, which the Huawei Mate 10 Pro doesn’t.

And it’s got AI smarts, which both makes it faster now and, perhaps more importantly, means it shouldn’t slow down as it gets older.
